Discover sweet corn from Mouzin Brother Farms in Vincennes, IN.  The Mouzins are a family of dedicated growers, packers and shippers who specialize in the distribution of the highest quality fruits and vegetables to the entire Midwest region. Fresh sweet corn is produced in abundance from June to August. They carefully select the sweetest varieties and harvest at perfect maturity which ensures a splendid taste at the table.

Truly a vegetable staple, how does one justly describe biting into a delicious hot buttered fresh ear of sweet yellow corn? Juicy, plump, tender oh-so-sweet bright yellow kernels are packed tightly on the cob offering an unforgettable addicting flavor and creating a desire for wanting more. It is considered almost a crime to eat fresh yellow corn on the cob any other way than all by its scrumptious self drizzled with melted butter. A sprinkle of salt and pepper enhances its succulent flavor. Steaming is preferred over boiling to preserve corn's fresh flavor. Cook directly on the grill with or without husks over medium heat. Flavorful companions include tomatoes, cilantro, basil, onions, black beans and toasted and ground cumin seeds. Order a bushel of corn today!

Important Quality Issues to Consider when Purchasing:

Leaf Lettuce - Supplies are a lighter compared to past weeks on romaine. This market is getting stronger. Green leaf is steady. Some mildew and tip burn continue to be seen upon arrival sporadically. Foggy, overcast mornings continue to be in the Salinas growing region. This will cause some mildew issues. Red discoloration will be seen in certain lots. Most shippers are having these issues.

Oranges - The Valencia crop is peaking on 88s followed by 113s, then 72s and 138s. The packout is 70 percent fancy and 30 percent choice. Quality is strong, and the juice content is high. The market is expected to hold steady into late July. The Valencia season will continue into October. Central Valley daytime highs are now in the low to mid-100s. These hot summer temperatures cause a reverse flow of chlorophyll, resulting in re- greening on the outer skin. This is cosmetic only and does not alter the internal sugars or eating quality of the fruit.

Strawberries - The recent weather pattern has not been ideal, and production is down 10 percent from the weeks of June 21 and June 28. The market on the best labels is moderately higher from the week of July 5. The market remains multi- tiered based on label, berry size and shelf life. Shippers are seeing continued strong demand from Canada, which has tightened the availability of 90s and 100s.
