Ashoka China seeks Permanent Country Representative

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

For the past year a team of volunteers, lead by Interim Country Representative Patrick Cheung, have been working to increase the awareness of Ashoka in China and to help us understand how Ashoka can best assist China to build a more harmonious society.

Patrick volunteered to take the challenge to start literally from zero and kick off Ashoka in China. He and his team have done an excellent job in building a solid foundation of partnerships and  a supporter network for a permanent team to continue the growth.

We are now at an important crossroad and are actively searching for a permanent leader in the mainland who will guide Ashoka's presence in China. The core characteristics we seek are:

• Entrepreneurial--A person who has a history of successful innovation
• Commitment to building a more harmonious society by enabling social entrepreneurs to flourish in topical areas of importance to China
• Social and emotional intelligence--Able to work in teams
• Ethical fiber
• Self image--Sees him/her self as someone who has the ability to lead major change to improve society

China has demonstrated innovation and tenacity in transforming their economic system over the last 30 years to today's phenomenal level of success. We at Ashoka believe that social innovation in China has the same scope of opportunity as China develops in the future. Therefore, finding the right person to lead Ashoka China is our singularly most important priority.
